Hi Crusaders
Last week I covered emotional cravings, and how to overcome them. In the article, I touched on mindset management as part of the solution, but I didn’t elaborate.
So, today I’d like to focus on the topic of Mindset management and mindfulness.
If you want to change your world, you need to change your mindset.
And, if you want to become successful at anything, you need focus, awareness, and positive action daily. Mastering your mindset is no different.
First, let’s unpack what Mindset is, and why it’s important to understand your own mindset.
You can define mindset as “the camera lens or filter through which we view the world and our experiences”. It is driven by your attitude, the beliefs about yourself and your abilities, and your past experiences.
How you view yourself, (the lens through which you see yourself), can have a significant impact when it comes to how you experience your life.
As Henry Ford once said… “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right”.
If you believe that you and your qualities are unchangeable you will prove yourself right. But, if you believe that growth is possible for you and that you can improve, you will also prove yourself right.

You can either have a fixed mindset or a growth mindset.
A Fixed Mindset
People with a fixed mindset tend to be more rigid and unadaptable. They are more focused on proving themselves, rather than improving themselves. Does that make sense?
General beliefs and actions of a fixed mindset:
- Believing that talent alone creates success.
- Preferring to avoid challenges or problems rather than facing them.
- Giving up more easily, or tending to take the easier option.
- Feeling as though their efforts don’t make much impact.
- Wanting to avoid “negative” feedback or useful constructive criticism.
- Feeling threatened by the success of others.
- Opting out to avoid failure or embarrassment.
A Growth Mindset
Having a growth mindset means we believe that we can improve our abilities and create success by working hard, practice and learning. It is a mindset focused on personal improvement.
General beliefs and actions of a growth mindset:
- Having a strong desire to learn.
- Believing you can improve your abilities.
- Understanding you can create success by working hard, practising and learning.
- Taking challenges even with the risk of “failing”.
- Persisting in the face of setbacks.
- Wanting to learn from criticism.
- Embracing “failure” because you know you will receive the learning and lessons from it.
- Finding lessons and inspiration in the success of others.
Just by reading these two lists above, it should be clear to you that for you to be a success in business and in life, you need to develop a growth mindset.

So, here are six daily measures you can take to upgrade your mindset.
1. Change the way you speak to yourself
The conversations you have with yourself are a direct reflection of your mindset. If you are telling yourself “I am not good enough to achieve my dreams”, your thoughts will create your reality. Your mindset will hold you back from having the life you want.
To upgrade your mindset, change your negative self-talk to an empowerment speech. Start using phrases like “I can do this”, “I’m the best person for this job”, or “I got this”.
They really work.
Also, use empowering language, like “I can”, “I am”, “I will”.
Not disempowering language like “I can’t”, “I won’t”, or “I don’t know how”.
2. Change the way you speak to others
After changing your inner dialogue, you must change the way you talk to other people. Avoid phrases like “I am always like this” or “I’m always doing this”. That promotes a fixed mindset.
Make it a habit to talk about the things that are going well in your life. Don’t spend time and energy complaining and talking about your problems. This will encourage a mindset of abundance instead of fear and lack.
3. Set your mind and body up for growth
Are you exercising and looking after your body’s nutrition?
Are you listening to educational or inspirational podcasts and news?
Do you watch motivational or educational videos, spend quality time with family and friends, and engage in ‘real’ conversations?
You should be able to answer yes to all of these questions.
Also . . . Are you successfully managing your emotions?
The best way to do this is to take the time to meditate daily. When you meditate it allows you to act in a calm manner, improves your decision-making, and makes you feel more relaxed.
4. Monitor your environmental inputs
Are you focusing on positive, uplifting, and inspirational stories, or are you paying attention to negative and reactive news?
Are you surrounding yourself with inspirational people who make you feel amazing and accept you for you? Or are you attracting toxic people who constantly blame, complain and whine about their lives and their circumstances?
Uplifting news and people give you more energy and positivity – toxic people drain it.
Want to upgrade your money & success mindset? Start hanging out with people that are very successful and seem to have an abundance of money flowing their way at any time. It is easier to adopt a new mindset when you see that it is already working for other people. Learn how they think and adapt their daily habits to match their mindset.

5. Create new habits to support your mindset change
Integrating habits into your day helps you reinforce your mindset with set actions. So, schedule time for learning; time for meditation; time for exercise . . . etcetera.
Then, start noting down your progress and achievements every day.
Practice being mindful, enjoying the present moment and celebrating small successes.
6. Serve Future Generations
Those who have truly mastered their mindset know that their life’s mission is to help people and the planet for future generations.
Become a true leader in this beautiful world. Choose to actively make this world a better place by taking courageous action and inspiring those around you to do the same.
Well, that’s my list of six mechanisms that you can use to gear up your mindset.
It has worked miracles in my own life, and I hope you start applying it to yours.
Also, please let me know how your life changes once your mindset has improved. I look forward to getting regular feedback 🙂
Take care out there, and have a wonderful week.
