Are your goals big enough?

Hi there Crusaders.

Quick question . . .

Do you set small, manageable goals so that you have a very high likelihood of achieving them?

Or do you set huge goals that you’ve got very little chance of achieving without superhuman effort?

You might think that by setting moderate, reachable goals, you’ll actually achieve them. That you’re setting yourself up for success. That you’d be more motivated because what you want seems easy to do.

And you would be wrong.

Setting small goals is the worst thing you can do for yourself.

Why am I so certain about it?

Because I’ve seen first-hand what having small goals does to people.

They destroy your motivation.
You see – because you believe the goal is easy to achieve, you don’t work as hard to get it. You limit the amount of work you can and are willing to do. You pace yourself.

Then, day-by-day, you start underestimating the effort you’ll need to put in to succeed and allow yourself to be distracted by non-essential activities.

And when you eventually realize that you’ve underestimated the level of work involved to achieve that small goal, it’s difficult to up your game. In the end, you don’t even achieve the small goal you set in the first place. That doesn’t help your cause, and it breaks down your confidence in yourself.

All because you didn’t set your goals high enough.

But not to worry, you can still do something about this.

You can still get the motivation you need to succeed.

All you have to do is start aiming higher.
Grant Cardone (the real estate magnate) reckons that you must “set targets that are 10 times what you think you want, and then do 10 times what you think it will take to accomplish those targets”. He explains it well in his book “The 10x Rule”.
Now I’m not saying that you should literally multiply your targets by 10, but the principle is very sound.

Your dreams must always exceed your current capacity to achieve them.

Check out the Build Your Dream Business Mastermind Program here. Just launched online for the first time ever. Ideal for anyone who wants to start their own business, but doesn’t know where to start.

WHY?

First, the sheer size of your goal will encourage you to focus only on activities that take you towards the goal. This will keep you from being distracted by non-essential activities.

Second, to achieve those goals, you’ll need to grow as an individual and effectively become the ‘better’ person you need to be to get there. If you are already the person you need to be to live your dreams, then your dreams are far too shortsighted.

Third, once you’ve fully bought into the goal, you will be inspired to put a lot more time and effort into working on it than if it was a mediocre, manageable goal.

Fourth, we often underestimate the amount of work that achieving our dreams will requireIf your goals are small, you won’t be driven to take the kind of action you need that will lead you to the level of success you are capable of.
Do you think Elon Musk knew how to build rockets, or how much effort it would take when he decided to start SpaceX?
Higher goals motivate us to achieve more and take better actions.
Build Your Dream Business
Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said, “If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough”. This is so true!

They have to be so big that they make us wonder if we will ever achieve such growth.

Something that seems almost impossible to reach.

When you do this, something happens within you.

  • You start feeling more motivated than ever.
  • The limiting beliefs you had before disappeared.
  • Your mindset changes and you start believing nothing is impossible to achieve.
All you have to do is start setting higher goals for yourself.

Take care, and good luck out there.

I hope you have an awesome week.
